OUR SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY
As the UK’s #1 chemical warehousing and transport company, we are committed to setting high environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards.
Our aim is to have a positive impact on the world by taking concerted, measurable action to improve it. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint. We have set targets in line with the Paris Agreement through the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Investment continues to be made in all areas of the business to achieve these targets.
We partner with Ecovadis to manage our sustainability program. This includes an external assessment, providing transparency for our customers and partners and identifying improvement areas to meet our targets. We are ranked in the top 7% of companies in our industry in Europe.
ENVIRONMENT
We take quantifiable steps to reduce our carbon footprint.
We train our drivers in the latest fuel-efficient driving techniques to help them achieve the maximum potential from their vehicles. We are also working with our customers to maximise load consolidation.
We have reduced our carbon footprint by installing solar panels on our warehouses, investing in LED motion-sensitive lighting, and developing tree planting programmes in conjunction with the Woodland Trust.
Furthermore, we are setting aside parcels of land to create biodiverse environments to support wildlife and absorb carbon (pictured).
SOCIAL
We are non-discriminatory and foster a culture of diversity and inclusion.
We always conduct business fairly and ethically. We engage with our employees and together act responsibly in supporting the local areas in which we operate. We work with schools and charities, help social groups and take part in volunteering programs.
Pictured is a Forest Schools event at one of our sites. A local primary school spent the day in one of our woodlands and were educated by the local Wildlife Trust.
GOVERNANCE
We maintain the highest standards of corporate governance and compliance ethics.
We protect our reputation through our risk management practices and have high standards of cyber security and data governance. We have a positive compliance culture supported by clear guidance to maintain fair business ethics.
OPERATION CLEAN SWEEP
We have pledged to reduce our impact on the environment.
We have signed up to Operation Clean Sweep and made the pledge to prevent plastic pellet loss.
We have invested in control measures to control the quantity of pellets lost from our activities. Our aim is to achieve zero pellet loss. We have then further developed our programme to promote Operation Clean Sweep to our business partners and contractors.
